Acknowledges his founding of Bertelkamp Fluid Power, Inc. in 1975 (renamed Bertelkamp Automation, Inc. in 1985), which grew into a major Southeast factory automation firm

Notes his community leadership including chairman of the Greater Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, and his establishment of the Bertelkamp Basketball Scholarship Endowment Fund in August 2004
