Honors Officer Michael J. Douglas of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department for his dedication during the January 2026 ice storm, when he stayed at the Mounted Patrol barn for three days to care for eight horses during a nine-day power outage

Officer Douglas is a Mounted Patrol Officer partnered with Tucker, a four-year-old Clydesdale-Percheron cross, and has served in the unit for three years

Graduated from the police academy in 2007 and has served nearly 19 years with Nashville police, including patrol operations, Central Precinct Bikes Unit, and 10 years with the Motorcycle Unit where he was named Officer of the Year in 2017

Completed 150 hours of Basic Mounted Patrol training, the 2023 Master Horse Program at University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture, and attended the Mounted Police Colloquium in Lexington, Kentucky
