Received the Key to the City of Harriman twice (1998 from Mayor Harold Wester and again from Mayor Wayne Best), the Pioneer Christian Award, Hard Fighting Soldier Award, and was named a Golden Treasure by Roane County

Served as counselor for Tennessee State Youth Conference, treasurer of Knoxville Track Club, soprano singer in Roane County Choral Society, volunteer and Pink Lady at Harriman Hospital, March of Dimes representative, and board member of Keep Roane Beautiful

Expresses sympathy and condolences to her surviving daughters (Darlene Johnson, Marcia McMahan, Trellis Barksdale, and Sharrieffa Barksdale), grandchildren, and extended family
