Raises the age threshold for victims in "indecency with a child" offenses from under 17 to under 18 years of age

Redefines "child" in the sexual assault statute from persons younger than 17 to persons younger than 18 years of age

Maintains the definition of "child" as younger than 17 for purposes of certain evidentiary procedures in criminal prosecutions (Article 38.074)

Preserves the under-17 age threshold for triggering mandatory child safety zone restrictions for defendants on community supervision or parole, which prohibit offenders from being within 1,000 feet of schools, playgrounds, and other places where children gather

Applies only to offenses committed on or after September 1, 2025, with prior offenses governed by existing law
