Removes the requirement that candidates for adjutant general be a "federally recognized" officer, allowing appointment of any officer at colonel rank or higher in the Texas military forces

Eliminates the requirement for prior active duty or active duty training with the United States Army or Air Force

Removes the requirement to meet submission standards of the General Officer Federal Recognition Board

Reduces service requirements from 15 years as a federally recognized reserve or active duty commissioned officer to 15 years as a commissioned officer with the U.S. Army, Air Force, or Texas military forces

Eliminates the previous requirement for at least five years of service specifically with the Texas National Guard

Effective date: September 1, 2025
