Expands the list of cancers for which firefighters and emergency medical technicians can claim benefits or compensation under Section 607.055 of the Government Code

Currently covered cancers include those originating in the stomach, colon, rectum, skin, prostate, testis, or brain, as well as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, multiple myeloma, malignant melanoma, and renal cell carcinoma

Adds a new category covering any cancer that may be caused by exposure to heat, smoke, radiation, or a known or suspected carcinogen as determined by the International Agency for Research on Cancer

Applies only to claims for benefits or compensation filed on or after the effective date

Takes effect immediately with a two-thirds vote of both legislative chambers, otherwise becomes effective September 1, 2025
