Defines "school social work services" as specialized services to assist students and families by alleviating barriers to learning, connecting home/community/school, advocating for student success, and assisting with basic needs

Requires school district social workers to collaborate with administrators and professionals to enhance learning environments, serve on education and safety committees, and develop violence prevention, suicide prevention, and child abuse identification strategies

Permits school social workers to provide social work services to students and families, as well as behavioral health referrals and group intervention services

Allows school district boards of trustees to adopt policies requiring social workers to spend at least 80% of their work time on specified social work duties

Takes effect for the 2025-2026 school year, with immediate effect upon two-thirds legislative vote or September 1, 2025
