University of Houston president must designate a department to conduct a study on the public health effects of PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl chemicals) in collaboration with the Railroad Commission, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and Department of State Health Services

Study must assess health impacts of PFAS found in produce, meat, food and beverage products and their packaging

Study must examine PFAS contamination in groundwater, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and other drinking water sources

Study must evaluate health effects of PFAS in equipment and materials regularly used by professionals such as firefighters and chemical manufacturing workers

Report with study conclusions due to the legislature by December 1, 2026; act takes effect September 1, 2025 and expires December 31, 2026
