Adds "ethnic studies" to the required foundation curriculum for social studies in Texas public schools (grades K-12), alongside existing subjects like Texas, U.S., and world history, government, economics, and geography

Allows high school students to fulfill one of their three required social studies credits by taking ethnic studies as an alternative to world geography or world history

Maintains existing social studies graduation requirements of one credit in U.S. history and at least one-half credit each in government and economics

Applies to students entering ninth grade during the 2026-2027 school year or later; students already in grades 10-12 during that year remain under previous requirements

Takes effect immediately with two-thirds legislative vote, otherwise September 1, 2025
