Creates a legislative leave pool allowing Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional officers to voluntarily donate up to 8 hours of compensatory time or annual leave per year

Correctional officers may withdraw time from the pool to conduct legislative activities on behalf of employment-related associations that have at least 5,000 active or retired members and are governed by a board of directors

Limits withdrawals to 80 hours per 160-hour work cycle and 480 hours maximum per fiscal year, with withdrawals requiring coordination and consent from the association's president or designee

The TDCJ executive director or designee will administer the pool, and the board will adopt rules governing its operation

Takes effect September 1, 2025; passed House on May 6, 2025 (118-30) and Senate on May 25, 2025 (27-4)
