Former county or municipal officers and employees who participated in contract negotiations or procurements on behalf of their government are prohibited from accepting employment with the contracting party for two years after the contract is signed or the procurement is terminated

The two-year "cooling off" period applies specifically to those who were directly involved in the negotiation or procurement process, not all former government employees

County or municipal governing bodies may grant individual waivers from this employment restriction upon application by the affected former officer or employee

The restriction only applies to officers and employees whose government service ends on or after September 1, 2025

Amends Chapter 171 of the Local Government Code by adding Section 171.008
