Reduces independent school district trustee terms from three or four years to two years, with the same two-year term applying to municipal school district trustees

Requires all independent school district trustee elections to be held on the same date as the general election for state and county officers (November of even-numbered years), eliminating options to hold elections with municipal, hospital district, or junior college elections

Mandates that independent school districts currently holding elections on dates other than the November general election must change their election date by December 31, 2025

Removes the requirement for staggered terms and drawing lots for term lengths, instead requiring all board positions to be filled at elections following redistricting or when current terms expire

Protects current trustees during the transition by prohibiting extensions of more than two years beyond original terms and prohibiting any shortening of existing terms
