Requires political subdivisions employing firefighters to offer free occupational cancer screenings beginning in the firefighter's fifth year of employment, then annually thereafter

Mandates screenings include cancer testing, urine test, pulmonary function test, electrocardiogram, infectious disease screening, breast cancer screening, blood test, and chest x-ray (chest x-ray limited to once every five years)

All screening results must be kept confidential

Allows political subdivisions to opt out if they provide an alternative annual occupational medical examination plan submitted to the Texas Commission on Fire Protection by February 1 each year, endorsed by a physician and compliant with National Fire Protection Association standards

Officially named the "Wade Cannon Act" and takes effect June 1, 2026; passed House 148-1 and Senate 31-0
