TX HB2213

Modifies requirements for three insurance industry representatives on the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association board to include those who "write or sell" windstorm and hail insurance in first tier coastal counties (previously required those who "write and renew")

Adds requirement that the three insurance industry board members must be Texas residents

Requires at least one (previously exactly one) property and casualty agent on the board to be actively offering or selling Texas windstorm and hail insurance policies, in addition to existing requirements of being licensed and not a captive agent

Changes residency requirement for three board members from living "more than 100 miles from the Texas coastline" to living "outside a catastrophe area"

Takes effect September 1, 2025; passed House 120-15 on May 2, 2025 and Senate 31-0 on May 28, 2025
