Raises the age definition of "child" from under 17 to under 18 years old for the offense of making a firearm accessible to a child

Expands the offense to apply to all firearms, removing the previous limitation to only "readily dischargeable" (loaded) firearms

Redefines "secure" to require either storing the firearm unloaded in a properly sealed locked container, or rendering it inoperable with a trigger lock or other means

Removes the affirmative defense for lawful self-defense by the child, while retaining defenses for supervised hunting/sporting activities, unlawful entry onto property, and agricultural enterprises

Takes effect September 1, 2025, applying only to offenses committed on or after that date
