Extends the statute of limitations for felony offenses under the Election Code or otherwise related to elections conducted in Texas to five years from the date of commission, up from the standard three-year period for most felonies

Reenacts and reorganizes Article 12.01 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to consolidate multiple amendments from the 88th Legislature (2023) that addressed various statutes of limitations

Makes technical corrections to subsection lettering throughout the statute of limitations provisions for felonies, renumbering items to maintain proper sequence

Specifies that the extended limitations period does not apply retroactively to offenses where prosecution was already barred by the previous limitation period before the Act's effective date

Takes effect September 1, 2025
