County judges eligible for state salary supplements will have their annual supplement calculated at 18% of a district judge's annual salary (rather than the previous "state base salary"), based on comparable years of service between the county judge and district judge

Eligibility for the supplement remains unchanged: county judges must perform at least 18% of their functions as judicial functions, or spend at least 18% of their total work hours on judicial duties

The bill amends Section 26.006(a) of the Texas Government Code and references Section 659.012 (removing the specific subsection "(a)" limitation) for determining district judge salary comparisons

Changes apply only to salary payments for pay periods beginning on or after the effective date; prior pay periods continue under existing law
