Removes short-barrel firearms from the list of prohibited weapons under Texas Penal Code Section 46.05, making them legal to possess, manufacture, transport, repair, or sell without federal registration requirements

Repeals Section 46.01(10) of the Penal Code, which contains the definition of "short-barrel firearm"

Eliminates the affirmative defense provision that previously allowed dealing with short-barrel firearms solely as antiques or curios

Applies only to offenses committed on or after the effective date; offenses committed before remain governed by prior law

Takes effect September 1, 2025
