Requires the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement to establish and maintain a mandatory training program of at least two hours for peace officers on interacting with persons with autism spectrum disorder

Training must cover understanding autism spectrum disorder, identifying individuals with the condition, effective communication techniques, de-escalation strategies, and interviewing best practices

Program must include instruction on locating persons with autism who have run away, recognizing when they may be victims of abuse or criminal exploitation, and ensuring their safety in correctional facilities

Officers must also learn laws regarding emergency detention and taking persons into custody under the Health and Safety Code

Training requirements apply to officers who begin satisfying minimum curriculum requirements on or after January 1, 2026, with the act taking effect September 1, 2025
