Amends Section 141.001(a) of the Texas Election Code regarding eligibility requirements for candidates seeking public elective office

Adds language specifying that persons with felony convictions may become eligible for public office if released from resulting disabilities "by a court of competent jurisdiction"

Clarifies that the existing exception for pardons now explicitly includes court-ordered release from felony conviction disabilities as a pathway to restore eligibility

Maintains all other existing eligibility requirements including U.S. citizenship, minimum age of 18, residency requirements, and voter registration

Takes effect September 1, 2025
