Extends the Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP) participation period from 10 years to 20 years before pension credits to a member's DROP account cease while on active service

Applies to police and fire fighter retirement system members in certain municipalities governed by Article 6243a-1

Applies to all DROP participants regardless of whether they began participation before, on, or after the effective date of the act

Members whose pension credits already stopped under the previous 10-year rule (on or after January 1, 2018) are not entitled to retroactive credits for the gap period ending August 31, 2025

Takes effect September 1, 2025
