Expands existing mental health leave requirements to include fire fighters, in addition to peace officers and telecommunicators who were already covered under current law

Requires all governmental entities that employ peace officers, fire fighters, or telecommunicators to develop and adopt mental health leave policies for employees who experience traumatic events while performing their duties

Mandates that mental health leave policies include clear guidelines for when leave is granted, provide leave without salary deduction, specify the number of available leave days, and detail anonymity protections for employees taking leave

Allows employers to optionally include a list of mental health services available in their area as part of the policy

Takes effect September 1, 2025, with employers required to develop compliant policies as soon as practicable after that date
