Requires specified school employees (nurses, athletic coaches, physical education instructors, marching band directors, cheerleading coaches, and student athletic trainers) to receive and maintain certification in both CPR and AED use from organizations like the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Expands CPR and AED instruction requirements to include open-enrollment charter schools, in addition to school districts and private schools

Removes the previous limitation that only applied AED policy requirements to private schools that received defibrillators or funding from the Texas Education Agency

Mandates that private schools and open-enrollment charter schools adopt policies making CPR and AED instruction available to all employees and volunteers

Takes effect beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, with immediate effect if passed by two-thirds vote or September 1, 2025 otherwise
