Creates a new criminal offense (Section 30.055, Penal Code) for trespassing on or near school or day-care center property in Texas

Applies to persons who enter or remain on school/day-care property OR on public property (streets, sidewalks, parks) within 250 feet of such property

Offense requires that the person lacks custody/responsibility for an enrolled student AND lacks written permission from the school/day-care center, AND refuses to leave after being asked by an administrator, educator, or security officer

Classified as a Class A misdemeanor (punishable by up to one year in jail and/or up to $4,000 fine under Texas law)

Passed the House 124-10 on May 1, 2025 and the Senate 29-2 on May 9, 2025; takes effect September 1, 2025
