Chair of the State Board of Education may employ personnel to assist all board members in performing board duties, prescribe their duties, and make decisions on promotions, terminations, and other employment actions

Personnel compensation and expense reimbursements must come from funds made available by the legislature

Employees hired under this provision are eligible for membership in the Employees Retirement System of Texas and the state group benefits program under Chapter 1551 of the Insurance Code

Texas Education Agency must provide administrative support to the board including human resources, budgetary, accounting, purchasing, payroll, IT, and legal services

Effective date: September 1, 2025
