Allows Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to reimburse current employees up to $5,000 in attorney's fees when they seek a protective or restraining order related to their job duties protecting children, elderly persons, or persons with disabilities

Maintains existing provision permitting DFPS to indemnify current or former employees up to $10,000 for attorney's fees if criminally prosecuted for job-related conduct and found not guilty, acquitted on appeal, or charges dismissed without a guilty plea

Applies to employees involved in protective services activities who face legal proceedings arising from the course and scope of their employment

Requires DFPS to adopt rules implementing the new reimbursement provision as soon as practicable after the effective date

Takes effect September 1, 2025
