Requires school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to adopt paid parental leave policies for classroom teachers who have worked at least 12 months and 1,250 hours

Provides 40 days of paid leave for teachers giving birth and 20 days for teachers whose spouse gives birth or who adopt a child, without requiring teachers to first exhaust vacation and sick leave

Creates separate parental leave policy for teachers who don't meet the 12-month/1,250-hour threshold, allowing up to 12 weeks of leave (using available paid leave first, with remainder unpaid) for birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child under age 3

Establishes a "Teacher Families Allotment" to reimburse school districts for the full compensation paid to employees during their paid parental leave period

Applies beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, with districts required to adopt policies by September 1, 2025
