Expands maternal depression screening coverage from one screening to up to four screenings under the Texas Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

Increases Medicaid reimbursement for maternal depression screenings from one to up to four screenings under the Texas Health Steps Comprehensive Care Program

Screenings must occur during covered well-child visits or office visits before the child's first birthday

Mothers are eligible for covered screenings regardless of whether they are themselves enrolled in the program

Implementation may be delayed if federal waiver or authorization is required; effective date is September 1, 2025
