Requires municipalities to incorporate into their building codes a mandate that new residential buildings for 1-4 families be constructed compatible with solar energy device installation that can interconnect with the local electric grid

Requires counties to adopt the same solar energy device compatibility standards for new residential construction in unincorporated areas

Solar installations must comply with interconnection requirements of the local electric utility, electric cooperative, or municipally owned utility, as well as Public Utility Commission of Texas rules and ERCOT protocols

Builders must have new residential construction inspected by the municipality or county to verify compliance with solar compatibility requirements

Violations of the solar compatibility or inspection requirements constitute a Class C misdemeanor, with the requirements applying to construction beginning on or after September 1, 2027
