Expands mandatory school transfer rights to children of firefighters, in addition to children of peace officers and servicemembers who already have this right under existing law

Requires school district boards of trustees to approve transfer requests from qualifying parents to move their child to another campus within the district or to another school district

Allows the qualifying parent to select the specific campus or school district for the transfer

Districts are not required to provide transportation for students who transfer under this provision

Applies beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, with an effective date of September 1, 2025 (or immediately upon two-thirds legislative approval)
