Requires political subdivisions to provide critical-illness supplemental income benefits to retired firefighters and peace officers diagnosed with cancer, acute myocardial infarction, or stroke within 3 years of retirement

Applies only to retirees from fire departments or law enforcement agencies with at least 50 firefighters or peace officers

Benefit amount is the lesser of the retiree's final yearly salary or $100,000, payable as a lump sum or in equal payments over 3 consecutive months

Commissioner of workers' compensation must adjust the $100,000 cap every 5 years (years ending in 5) based on the Consumer Price Index increase over the preceding 10 years

Exempts political subdivisions that already provide retirees with health benefit plans comparable in coverage and cost to their pre-retirement plans; applies to retirements on or after January 1, 2026
