Changes the interest rate on delinquent child support from a fixed 6% simple interest per year to a variable rate determined under Section 304.003 of the Finance Code (which sets post-judgment interest rates)

Applies the new interest rate to delinquent child support payments, child support arrearages reduced to money judgments, and retroactive or lump-sum child support judgments

Takes effect January 1, 2026, applying to child support payments that become due on or after that date and money judgments rendered on or after that date

For arrearages existing before January 1, 2026, the previous interest rate applies to amounts accrued before that date, while the new rate applies to the cumulative total going forward

Money judgments for child support rendered before January 1, 2026, continue to be governed by the law in effect when the judgment was rendered
