Schools violating these requirements face administrative penalties up to $10,000 per library material, and vendors with three or more rating violations are banned from selling to Texas schools

The Texas Education Agency must conduct quarterly audits of at least 5% of reviewed materials to ensure accuracy and constitutional compliance; parents may bring legal action to compel school compliance; takes effect for the 2026-2027 school year
