Expands the district attorney's civil jurisdiction in Ector County to include civil commitment matters under the Health and Safety Code and children's protective services cases, in addition to existing authority over civil asset forfeiture and bond forfeiture matters

Grants the county attorney authority to represent the state in misdemeanor criminal cases in district and inferior courts, removing the previous prohibition on county attorney involvement in criminal matters

Allows the county attorney to assist the district attorney in felony criminal prosecutions upon the district attorney's request

Assigns the county attorney powers and duties related to protective orders and juvenile matters under Title 3 of the Family Code

Applies only to proceedings commenced on or after September 1, 2025, with pre-existing proceedings governed by former law
