Applies only to Texas counties with a population of more than 250,000

Authorizes commissioners courts in qualifying counties to abolish the office of purchasing agent appointed under Section 262.011 by order

Permits commissioners courts to employ a person as county purchasing agent under Section 262.0115 after abolishing the appointed position

Purchasing agents whose offices are abolished have their terms expire on the date specified in the commissioners court order, but remain eligible to be employed in the new purchasing agent position

Takes effect immediately if passed by two-thirds vote of both legislative chambers, otherwise takes effect September 1, 2025
