Requires public schools, charter schools, districts of innovation, regional education service centers, and shared services arrangements to obtain parental consent before interviewing a student about alleged employee misconduct

Consent must be obtained from the parent or person standing in parental relation to the student prior to any interview

Applies to investigations of misconduct by employees of the school district, charter school, or educational entity

Takes effect beginning with the 2025-2026 school year

Becomes effective immediately with a two-thirds vote of both legislative chambers, otherwise takes effect September 1, 2025
