Extends the maximum duration emergency shelter facilities may provide shelter or care to minors from 15 days to 30 days without additional consent or qualifications

Allows continued shelter beyond 30 days if the facility receives consent from the minor under Section 32.202 of the Family Code

Permits extended shelter if the minor has qualified for financial assistance under Chapter 31 of the Human Resources Code and is on a waiting list for housing assistance

Applies to emergency shelter or care provided on or after the effective date, regardless of when the shelter or care originally began

Takes effect immediately with two-thirds legislative vote, otherwise September 1, 2025
