Requires home-rule municipalities to submit citizen-initiated ballot measures (initiatives and referenda) to the Texas Attorney General within 5 days of receiving the petition

Attorney General must review the measure within 30 days (extendable by 2 weeks with notice) to determine whether any portion would violate state law

Prohibits municipalities from holding an election on a measure if the Attorney General determines it would violate state law

Municipalities must proceed with the election if the Attorney General fails to respond within the required timeframe

Elections on these measures must be held on uniform election dates, and state law requirements override conflicting municipal charter provisions regarding election timing

Repeals Section 51.079 of the Local Government Code and applies to petitions submitted on or after September 1, 2025
