Expands existing mental health first aid training requirements to include school district volunteers who regularly interact with students, in addition to district employees

Training covers recognition and support of children and youth experiencing mental health or substance use issues that may pose a threat to school safety

Exempts volunteers who have already completed mental health training offered by a local mental health authority from the new training requirement

State education agency allotments to school districts may now cover volunteers' travel, training fees, and compensation for time spent completing the required training

School districts must ensure all covered volunteers complete the training by September 1, 2026, with the act taking effect September 1, 2025
