Requires "able-bodied" students in public schools and open-enrollment charter schools to rise and either recite or silently observe the daily pledges of allegiance to the United States and Texas flags

Students with written parental or guardian request must be excused from reciting the pledge, and excused students must wait quietly outside the room during the pledge activities

United States and Texas flags must be prominently displayed in each classroom where pledges are recited, though schools are not required to spend public funds to acquire flags and may accept donations instead

A one-minute period of silence must follow the pledges, during which students may reflect, pray, meditate, or engage in other silent activities
