Requires medical examiners appointed by commissioners courts to hold certification in both anatomic pathology and forensic pathology from the American Board of Pathology

Maintains existing requirement that medical examiners must be either licensed by the Texas Medical Board or hold a provisional license while their Texas application is pending

Requires assistant or deputy medical examiners to hold or be eligible to hold American Board of Pathology certification in anatomic pathology and forensic pathology

Repeals Section 2(b) of Article 49.25 of the Code of Criminal Procedure

Compliance with new requirements not required until January 1, 2026, with the act taking effect September 1, 2025
