Expands sex offender registration requirements to apply to any felony conviction if the defendant was initially charged with an offense that would have required registration, even if they pleaded to or were convicted of a lesser, non-registrable offense

Creates a new category of "reportable conviction or adjudication" for felonies where the original filed charge would have triggered sex offender registration, closing a potential loophole in plea bargaining

Sets the duration of the registration requirement to match what would have applied to the original charged offense, not the lesser offense of conviction

Applies only to offenses committed on or after September 1, 2025; prior offenses remain governed by existing law

Amends Article 62.001 and Article 62.101 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure
