Expands tort liability protection for producers of fluid oil and gas waste who supply waste to treatment facilities, shielding them from lawsuits arising from the beneficial use of treated products

Removes the previous requirement that treated products be "generally considered in the oil and gas industry to be suitable for use in connection with the drilling for or production of oil or gas" to qualify for liability protection

Eliminates the requirement for a "contractual understanding" about the treated product's intended use as a condition for liability protection

Applies governmental immunity provisions from the Civil Practice and Remedies Code to actions brought under the fluid oil and gas waste treatment statute

Takes effect September 1, 2025, with causes of action accruing before that date governed by prior law
