Amends Section 814.008 of the Government Code to require only the current spouse (not former spouse) to provide written, notarized consent when a retiree changes their beneficiary designation

Removes the provision allowing a court with jurisdiction over the marriage to order a beneficiary change

Establishes that a beneficiary designation naming a former spouse is invalid unless the retiree made the designation after the divorce date or the divorce decree specifically designates the former spouse as beneficiary

Applies to any retiree who changes their beneficiary on or after the effective date, regardless of when the original designation was made

Takes effect September 1, 2025
