Requires the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to establish a housing program specifically for inmates who are veterans

Dedicates certain cellblocks or dormitories within TDCJ facilities for use by veteran inmates participating in the program

Requires procedures to verify veteran eligibility during the diagnostic intake process and allows eligible veteran inmates to voluntarily opt in to the dedicated housing

Prohibits housing an inmate in veteran-designated areas if it would jeopardize the safety or security of other inmates or staff

Permits dedicated veteran housing areas to be used for non-veteran inmates if necessary, and takes effect September 1, 2025
