Wood County Central Hospital District in Texas gains authority to provide brain and memory health care services directly or through creating a special brain and memory health care services district.

The hospital district board may create the special district by order, with boundaries coextensive with the hospital district's boundaries.

A seven-member board of directors, appointed by the hospital district board to staggered two-year terms, would govern the special district; directors serve without compensation but may be reimbursed for expenses.

The special district cannot impose taxes or issue bonds; funding must come from the hospital district through a required contract specifying financial contributions, services, and asset management.

The special district may acquire and manage property, employ staff, enter contracts, accept grants and donations, and collaborate with nonprofit entities to deliver brain and memory health care services.
