Landowners within Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 140 may petition the district to become the sole water supply provider for land they own outside the district's boundaries but within another conservation and reclamation district

The petition applies only when the other district lacks authority to impose ad valorem taxes and does not currently provide water supply services to the land

Upon approval via resolution, MUD No. 140 gains exclusive authority to supply water services and impose charges, fees, taxes, or assessments on the designated land, provided it does not impair the other district's debt obligations

Regional water authorities retain the right to supply water services and impose related charges on the land, regardless of the district's exclusive designation

The district must file the resolution and petition in county real property records within 30 days and send certified copies to affected conservation and reclamation districts
