Requires sheriffs or deputies to ensure defendants discharged from facilities, jail-based competency restoration programs, or outpatient competency restoration programs receive prescribed medications at proper types and dosages

Authorizes sheriffs to compel defendants to take all prescribed medication to ensure continuity of care, in accordance with applicable law

Mandates that psychotropic medications being administered at time of discharge must continue unless the jail physician directs otherwise, with any medication changes requiring documentation and consultation with the treating physician from the original facility

Requires the commission to reimburse sheriffs for medication costs, removing the previous limitation that reimbursement was only available "to the extent funds are appropriated"

Takes effect September 1, 2025
