Extends the deadline for renewing a handgun carry license from the expiration date to one year after the expiration date, giving license holders an additional 12 months to complete the renewal process

Renewal requirements remain unchanged: submission of a renewal application form, payment of a $40 nonrefundable fee, and a signed or electronically acknowledged informational form

Applications may be submitted by mail or online through the department's internet procedure

Applies to all handgun licenses regardless of whether they expire before, on, or after the effective date of the act

Takes effect immediately upon receiving two-thirds vote in both chambers, otherwise takes effect September 1, 2025
