Changes the transfer of protective orders from discretionary ("may") to mandatory ("shall") when a suit for dissolution of marriage or suit affecting the parent-child relationship is filed or pending

Requires courts to transfer protective orders affecting child possession or access rights to the court of continuing, exclusive jurisdiction after a final order in a parent-child relationship suit

Eliminates the previous requirement that courts make a specific finding before transferring a protective order by repealing Section 85.064(c) of the Family Code

Applies only to motions to transfer protective orders made on or after the effective date; prior motions remain governed by former law

Takes effect September 1, 2025
